LULAC - The LULAC National Convention of the LULAC Assembly
The LULAC National Assembly met this morning and ran elections from about 9:30 through 12 noon. 513 delegates were certified. Puerto Rico produced 16 delegates. LULAC elected a new National President: Roman Palomares All current office holders ran with no opposition, sans 4 positions, VP Elderly Lidia Matinez (incumbent) 180 Ana Valenzuela 223 (Winner) VP SW Ray Mancera (incumbent) 238 (Winner) Al Maldonado 223 VP NE James Fakuda (incumbent) 148 Ramery De Luna 251 (Winner) Treasurer Suzanne Summer 209 (Winner) Maggie Rivera 207 There were 6 amendments proposed. Number 6 was withdrawn. Number 1 defeated: Proposed to eliminate paper councils and to permit proportional representation at LULAC conventions, 4 delegates for 1st 10 member council and an add on of 1 delegate per 10 members growth.
