LULAC - The LULAC National Convention of the LULAC Assembly
The LULAC National Assembly met this morning and ran elections from about 9:30 through 12 noon.
513 delegates were certified.
Puerto Rico produced 16 delegates.
LULAC elected a new National President: Roman Palomares
All current office holders ran with no opposition, sans 4 positions,

There were 6 amendments proposed. Number 6 was withdrawn.
Number 1 defeated: Proposed to eliminate paper councils and to permit proportional representation at LULAC conventions, 4 delegates for 1st 10 member council and an add on of 1 delegate per 10 members growth. Would limit 1st year of membership to no vote year. This would eliminate the creation of paper councils all the way up to 30 days before the start of a LULAC convention. In the Puerto Rico case, 340 councils were registered 60 days before the start of the LULAC Convention in San Juan in 2022, all paid for by one paying entity.
Number 2 defeated: This amendment would rid LULAC council development by political entities.
Number 3 passed: Creates the position of VP of Veterans Affairs
Number 4 passed: Shifts the conventions of state to May Jun
Number 5 passed: Shifts the conventions of national to July August
Number 6 - Pulled
The Convention of delegates was peaceful and orderly.
